Abstract
266,031. Gladitz, W. J., and Hohs- F. C. Nov. 10, 1925., Controlling consuming devices.-An automatic circuit-breaker applied to a welding machine, comprises a contact 44 forced between contacts 25 by a pedal to complete the circuit to the primary 47 of a transformer having electrodes 49, 50 in its secondary circuit. The relatively moving part$of the circuit-breaker are connected respectively to the pedal and an electrode-arm so that the electrode is brought into contact with the work as the circuit-breaker is closed. At the completion of the weld, excess current through the secondary, causes a switch 56 to close and energize a coil 33 which withdraws a pin 29 from the lower end of the levers carrying the contacts 25, these levers being forced apart by spring pressure to open the primary circuit. Release of the pedal allows the contact 44 to move upwards and forces the contacts 25 inwards so as to reset the circuit-breaker.
