Abstract

241,454. Stephens, B. G. C. March 23, 1925. Electrically-tripped switches. - A socket connector for electric irons is fitted with a thermal cut-out comprising a spring-opened switch 20 released by a bimetallic strip 30. The switch is closed by a hand knob 26 and connects the lead 16 to the socket 11, being supported upon the end of the strip 30 against the action of a spring 23. The strip is mounted upon an extension 31 of the .socket. 11 and is adjusted by a screw 33. In a modification the switch arm 20 is forked at 22, Fig. 7, and carries a rocker 35. When first closed the fork 22 rests upon the strip 30 in a position to be released when normal working temperature is reached, the strip 30 then being in such a position that the narrow tooth 30a engages the end 37 of the rocker which is positioned by the screw 39 and pin 38 at its heavier end.
