Abstract
370,526. Retractive switches. FLEMING, R., 5, Anzac Road, Whangarei, New Zealand. Jan. 20, 1931, No. 1898. Convention date, Sept. 22, 1930. [Class 38 (v).] The circuit to the heater of an electric iron is closed and opened by gripping or releasing a lever E mounted on the handle B of the iron, the lever E being connected to the plug D carrying the supply conductors and moving the plug D so that its contacts d move into or out of engagement with the contacts c of the co-operating socket C. The lever E is pivoted on a fixed bracket F and carries an arm J acted upon by a return spring M. The lever E is forked at its right-hand end, the ends of the fork being fixed to a band G encircling the plug. For preliminary heating of the iron, the lever E may be held permanently in its depressed position by means of a catch O engaging a slot N.
