Abstract
236,437. Gosslar, P. Nov. 12, 1924. Couplings. - A. rod for temporarily connecting two or three conductors comprises a conducting tube b, sliding within which is a metal rod c with a contact grip e, and a leg h which is normally held close against the tube b by a clamp f engaging a piece h<3> but is adapted, when the grip e seizes a conductor and a handle a is pulled so that the rod c slides further out of the tube b against the action of a spring d ta be released and swing outwards as shown to make contact with a second conductor. The leg h swings out under the action of a spring i the extent of its motion being determined by a wire l which passes round a pulley k on the tube b and the ends of which are fastened to the tube b and the leg h. A third conductor may be connected to the other two at g<1>. The leg h carries a renewable wire h<2> to make contact and take the sparks, or it may be fitted with a carbon bar s as shown in Fig. 3.
