Abstract

341,869. Hair-frizzing appliances. BERTELSEN, A. and BERTELSEN, E. V., Battle Mountain, Nevada, and AUSTIN, G., McKeesport, Pennsylvania, both in U.S.A. Oct. 21, 1929, No. 31932. [Class 131.] A device for crimping the hair in the form of a letter or other symbol comprises a pair of detachable dies 18, 19 carried by a handle 1 through which passes a lead 2 feeding an electrical resistance in the die 19. The die 19 is provided with a shank 24 secured by a set-screw 25 in a socket 5 formed in a shank 4 projecting from the handle, one wire of the lead 2 being secured to an insulated terminal 7 with which the shank 24 makes contact, and the other being secured to the socket. The die 18 is secured by a set-screw 23 in a socket 22 on a fingerpiece 9 provided with lugs 10 embracing the shank 4, a spring 14 being secured to the shank by a clip 12 and bearing against the finger-piece. The handle 1 is detachably secured to the shank 4 by the other end 13 of the spring 14.
