Abstract

137,932. Lea, W. C. Feb. 14, 1919. Cable and wire terminals. - In a terminal tip of the kind described in Specification 1600/15, comprising a socket portion a adapted to engage the insulation b of a conductor d, a flattened portion c gripping the end of the conductor, and a sleeve f adapted to engage a terminal pin or binding-post g, one or more gripping-devices adapted to engage terminal pins &c. of various sizes are provided within the sleeve. In the form shown, the gripping-devices comprise spring tongues i stamped out of a bush h secured within the sleeve f by spinning over the edges of the sleeve at j. The spring tongues may be stamped out of the sleeve itself, or they may be replaced by inwardly-extending bow-shaped members or by a tapered helical spring. The upper end of the sleeve may be closed to ensure that it is put on the terminal pin in the right direction.
