Abstract

241,380. Coe, H. D. Oct. 14, 1924. Reel and endless web apparatus; endless chain and like carriers, apparatus with. -Two endless bands of flexible material E, E<1> are mounted on parallel rollers A, B, A<1>, B<1> which are rotated at the same speed so that the viewed portions of the bands travel at the same rate and in the same direction, and appear to be parts of a single band. A strip f<2>, which may be lined at f<3> with velvet &c., hides the spacing between the bands E, E<1> at the rollers B, B'. To prevent slipping of the bands E, E<1> on the rollers, elastic belts H are stretched over the bands at the edges. Flanges on the rollers and stops h retain the belts H in position. The rollers A, A' may be driven by a chain G and gearing g<2>, g<3>, g<4> actuated by a motor. The bands E, E<1> may be of linen, lace, paper, leather, cloth, &c., and represent a change in the material on passing the strip f<2>, such as cleaning, dyeing, &c., or the repair of broken articles carried on the band E.
