Abstract

Endless-chain and like carriers, apparatus with; reel and endless-web apparatus.-In signs in which slat sections of a display surface are changed in sequence, the slats 11 are removably mounted on chains 10 running over wheels 12, 13 journaled on cross-members 9 connecting rigid front and rear members 8. The tension of the chains 10 can be adjusted, e.g. by mounting the wheels 13 in slot journals. The motion is conveyed to the slats by an endless chain 18 passing over a motor-driven sprocket 21 and a sprocket 20. The chain carries a double projection in the form of two rollers 19 which engage Maltese Cross members 17 mounted one on each shaft 14 carrying the wheels 12. A support for the chain 18 consists of a spring plate lying between two fibre strips 27 and clamped at its ends to extend parallel to and adjacent the inner length of the chain, its intermediate parts resting against adjustable L-shaped brackets 28. Guide brackets 29 on the members support the horizontal lengths of the chains 10. Means may be provided to conceal each of the slats, in turn, while it is being changed.
