22,026. Fowles, F. Nov. 1. Displaying; advertising. - Pictures, advertisements, and other notices are displayed by means of apparatus such as that shown in Fig. 2. Enclosed within a casing having a transparent front are side frames a connected by cross-bars b. The frames carry on their inner faces rails d, which are parallel with one another at the front and rear, and curved at the top and bottom. On the rails are adapted to move spring rollers e, on which are normally wound bands carrying the advertisements &c. to be displayed, the rollers being fitted at the ends with brackets f having pins g which guide the rollers along the rails. Each pair of brackets is connected by a lath i. Each band is attached at one end to the first roller, and at its other end to the lath i of the next, and so on. When a band is displayed, the lower roller is held by spring pivoted arms s, having catches t which engage with projections j on the brackets f, and the upper roller, which has been lifted by a cam projection r on the endless chain p, which cam serves to move aside the catch r and to engage with the projection j, rests on spring arms v which are moved aside by the roller, and then spring back to support it. The several rollers are thus intermittently actuated in succession, one band being unrolled for display while the other is being rolled up. In a modification, the bands may be displayed in a horizontal position.
