Abstract

335,288. Milner, F. E., and Coop, W. July 2, 1929. Moving apparatus combined with vehicles; reel and endless web apparatus; endless chain carriers, apparatus with.-Advertising apparatus of the type comprising endless members carrying sections of display matter in strip form, the members being moved intermittently in the same direction to form a changing composite display, is combined with a vehicle having one or more viewing windows &c. The vehicle may be motordriven and be provided with an enquiry office or the like 27, 28, Fig. 5, and may carry several of the apparatus. Fig. 1 shows a construction in which the strip sections or laths 13 are held rigidly by brackets 8-12 on the links of chains 7 mounted on sprocket wheels 5 driven by segmental, ratchet, or maltese cross gear. The laths 13 are wider than the diameter of the wheels 5. The brackets 8-12 on any one chain 7 are of the same length, but are of gradually shortening lengths on different chains to allow of the displayed laths overlapping. Alternatively the front and back wheels 5 may be arranged in different parallel planes for this purpose. The overlapping edges of the laths may be Levelled or rebated. The laths are made flexibe as by forming in three parts hinged together at 19, 20, Fig. 3, to enable them to pass to and from the horizontal and vertical positions. The parts are normally held in alignment by springs 21. The laths may be flat or curved.
