Reel and non-endless web apparatus. - An advertising apparatus comprises a series of travelling frames C moving round a closed track, each carrying two spring rollers G<1>, G<2> and preferably a sign P. Each roller has attached to it one end of a flexible poster web, each of which connects two frames. The sign P passes across the display face when one web is being wound up and another unwound. The mechanism for exposing the webs in turn comprises an endless moving chain F carrying a lug D which engages a projecting pin A<2> on each frame C which has come to, and is held by a catch in, the upper position, and draws it down the display face. After leaving the frame C at the bottom the lug D raises a bar M furnished with guide wheels O. The bar M carries pawls N which take under the pins A<2> and move the frames C forward, a rack and pawl &c. holding them in position. When a frame is descending the display face the displayed web is wound on a roller G<2>, and the new web off a roller G<1>, the other two rollers being held stationary by a pawl or pinion. The web is transferred from roller G<2> to roller G<1> during the travel of the frames C up the back of the apparatus, either by rack and pinion gearing, or by a difference in the tensions of the spring rollers. According to the Provisional Specification electric lamps may be arranged on rotatable frames acting as a border, and one of the rollers G', G<2> may be replaced by a bar.
