Abstract
237,512. Boisselot, C. J. Sept. 22, 1924, [Convention date]. Hook fastenings.-A spring fastener for a motor car bonnet consists of a hook which is operated by a knob in such a way that rotation of the knob first engages the hook and further movement applies tension thereto. The knob 5, Fig. 1, arranged outside the bonnet 9 is fixed on a spindle 6 which turns the hook 11 from the free position shown in Fig. 2 to the position shown in Fig, 3, in which it engages a spring 24, the tension of which may be adjusted by screwing it off or on the boss 25. The disc 19 is fixed to the spindle 6 and carries a pin 18 which works in a slot in the hub 10 of the hook 11, the hub also carrying a pin 14 which engages an opening 10 in a member 8 fixed to the flap of the bonnet. During the first part of the movement, the pin 18 rotates the hub 10, and brings the parts to the position shown in Fig. 3, while further movement of the pin 18 along the edges 17 of the slot in the hub 10 tensions the spring and locks the catch against accidental displacement by engaging the pin 14 in the vertical slot 16 in the member 8.
