Abstract

171,128. Exsteen, A. June 9, 1920. Securing flaps in a given relative position.- The pivoted members 1, 2 of a stay-arm for the hoods of vehicles comprises a spring-pressed pin 6 on the arm 1 which is adapted to engage a recess 10 in an extension of the arm 2 so that these members may be secured in the aligned position. The locking-pin has a flange 7 engaged by a spring 5 housed in a cover 4 on the member 1. The pin has a milled nut 14 on its outer end for readily disengaging the pin from the recess in the member 2 when required. The extension 11 of the member 2 has a bevelled recess extending from one edge to the recess 10 so that the hood may be forced open with the hinge members in the aligned position. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 514/98, [Class 108, Road vehicles], 23676/05 and 5053/06.
