484,266. Stays. FIAT SOC. ANON. Aug. 12, 1937, No. 22188. Convention date, May 4. [Class 65 (i)] A device for yieldingly holding open a motor-car door comprises an arm 2, pivoted at 1 to the frame on an axis offset from the door hinge, formed with a head 4 whch slides between a pair of levers 13 mounted in the door and pressed together by a spring 16; the levers 13 are formed with noses 13a which are forced apart by the wedge-shaped upper and lower surfaces of the head 4 of the arm 2 when the door reaches the open position and spring back behind the head to hold the door open against any normal tendency to close. A rubber or other cushion 14 is engaged by the head 4 to limit opening of the door. One of the levers 13 may be replaced by a fixed member.
