Abstract

12,403. Aron, E. May 21. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Cord-strainers.-A device for tightening the cords securing the hoods of motor-cars in the raised position comprises a drum 5, to which the cord is attached, adapted to rotate on a spindle 1 secured to the car body. The drum is retained in position when the cords have been sufficiently tensioned by sliding it along the spindle so that one or other of a series of holes 9 is engaged by a fixed pin 3. A cover 14, freely mounted in grooves 8, and having an opening for the cord, is provided. The drum may be made self-winding by means of a spring; and a further spring may be inserted between the disk 2 and drum 8, tending to keep the drum free to revolve.
