Abstract

235,030. Linotype & Machinery, Ltd., and Drake, T. July 17,1924. Moulds, type-bar. A mould for forming sectional type-bars comprises a liner 1, Fig. 5, extending the full length of the mould, and having integral with it one or more division pieces or ribs 6. The liner is provided with the usual locating-ribs 3, and is held in position between the mould-cap 2 and the mould-body 5. The ribs. 6 do not extend entirely across the mould, so that adjacent type-bars are connected by a thin neck of metal. The liner has grooves 7, Fig. @, on its underside for forming the known ribs on the type-bars, and the grooves are flared at the ends, so as to form projections, which prevent blank slugs from being withdrawn from the mould by the metal-pot mouthpiece.
