Abstract

239,710. Linotype & Machinery, Ltd., and Bower, W. M. Sept. 26, 1924. Matrices for type.-barmaking machines. In the production of accented type-bars, the accents are cast on a separate type-bar 8, Fig. 3, or a portion of a type-bar, which is afterwards associated with the type-bar 5, Fig. 4, bearing the characters. The characters 4, Fig. 2, on the matrices 2 are inverted, and are arranged for alignment at the bottom of the type-bar, as usual, but the accent characters 7, Fig. 1, are in erect position on their matrices 1, and are arranged for alignment at the top of the accent type-bar.
