Abstract
225,674. Linotype & Machinery, Ltd., Bower, W. M., Burdon, C. S., and Stern, C. L. Oct. 22, 1923. Moulds, type-bar. In moulds for producing large hollow slugs adapted for display faces, the mould-cavity is formed with two parallel sections in which the sidewalls of the slug are cast, the feet of the side-walls being in the same plane throughout their length. The mould is provided with a core 6, Figs. 1 and 2, which is supported on liners 5 beneath filling-pieces 7, which occupy the same space between the liners and the mouldcap 2. The mould-slot is thus divided into upper and lower sections in which are formed the sidewalls 10, Fig. 5, of the slug, these being connected by a character-bearing section 11. The metal is injected in two jets extending along the whole length of the mould. The core has notches 9, which form transverse walls 13 connecting the side-walls 10.
