Abstract

Trimming type-bars; moulds.- In type-bar moulds in which an elector forming one end-wall of the mould slides between adjustable mould-blocks, and the metal is injected into the mould through a slotted member so as to form a wedge-shaped sprue, a cutting edge is formed at one end of the slot, whereby the sprue is cut off as the type-bar is ejected. The sprue-forming member consists of upper and lower nipple-plates 13, 14, Fig. 2. which are recessed to receive the mouth of tho metal-pot. The slot 18, through which the metal is injected, is inclined downwardly from the mould M, and is formed by cutting away the upper edge of the lower nipple-plate 14, as shown in Fig. 4. A knife-edge 20 for trimming off the sprue is formed by undercutting the end of the slot.
