Abstract
234,484. Soc. des Etablissements Hopkinson, and Noble, G. May 20, 1924, [Convention date]. Indicators actuated by pressure of head of liquid.-Apparatus for indicating the water level in a steam generator comprises one or more diaphragms, each of which is subjected on its opposite sides to the pressure of a column of water of constant height and to that of the varying height in the generator. The generator is connected by a tube T, Fig. 1, to a condenser A having an overflow T' to the generator. The condenser maintains a constant head of water in a tube T<3> which communicates with a chamber D closed at its ends by diaphragms E, F. The chamber D is in alignment with liquid chambers G, H which are connected by an air vessel J and tubes T<4>, K, the level of the water in the glass tube K being indicative of the water level in the generator. In a modification, the tube T<3>, Fig. 2, is connected to a chamber G' which is separated by a diaphragm E' from a chamber D connected with the generator of a tube T<5>. The movement of the diaphragm is communicated through links and toothed-gearing to a drum 0, upon which is wound a flexible cord attached to an indicating-float in the glass tube K.
