Vacuum tubes.-A thermionic filament consists of a number of thin tungsten or other wires woven, twisted or braided together in the form of a cable or rope. In the preferred form the wires are braided or plaited to form a tubular filament. A wire may be inserted in the tube so as to be gripped when the tube is tensioned.
