[Class 109] A wire rope has three strands 1, 2, 3, each of which comprises two or more separate wires 4, 4<a> arranged side by side to give the strand a major dimension, the strands being twined or plaited together with the major dimensions always in parallel planes. The interstices between the strands may be filled by other wires, by twine or by yarn. Each wire 4, 4<a> may be formed by a number of fine flexible wires 7. The rope has an oval or stream-lined form in any cross-section. In a modification, one of the three wires is a single wire.
