Abstract
The non rotating lifting cable comprises an even number of ropes connected at each end by a metal block (3,4) which is not free to rotate. The ropes are arranged in pairs such that each pair is identical but the ropes are wound in opposite direction. The ropes are perfectly balanced so they react in a uniform manner when a load is applied, unlike other non rotating cables where the ropes are wound co-axially but each layer is wound in the opposite direction to the previous layer.
