The invention relates to a flat cable produced by the assembly of hawsers each formed by the twisting of a group of strands. Each of these being itself formed by the tossion of a group of threads.
In the chars of this species produced up to now, the hawsers are placed side by side and assembled by sewing threads, so as to produce a flat cable the thickness of which is that of a hawser.
The invention relates to an arrangement making it possible to produce a cable dt of greater thickness.
According to the invention, the hawsers are divided into two or more groups, each of which is itself twisted so as to constitute a rope.
These ropes are arranged side by side so as to form a cable.
They will be arranged in an even number, half of them being formed by right-hand twisting, the other by left-hand twisting. Each string will be formed of three hawsers.
The sewing threads in this case crossed a rope

by passing between two hawsers and crossing the third by passing between the strands constituting the latter,
The drawing attached to this memory shows diagrammatically in perspective, by way of example and not by way of limitation, one embodiment of the invention.
The cable consists of four coir 4 cons-

The indices d affecting the reference digits specify that the torsion takes place on the right. The indices g relate to a left torsion 1
As can be seen in the drawing, the cable is formed by two twisted ropes on the right and two twisted ropes on the left which are alternated in their juxta position.
The hawsers 1 are each formed by the twisting of a group of four strands 2.
Each of these is itself formed by the twisting of a group of threads 5. The sewing threads 5 which unite the cords constituting the cable pass through these cords passing between two hawsers, for example Ida and Idb, and passing through the third, for example 1de, by passing between the strands such as 2g constituting this hawser.
The stitching threads 5 which are any number, for example two, describe a wavy curve. Each branch such as xl - yl of this curve crosses a hawser 1 of each string, this hawser being located respectively below and above the two neighboring branches such as x2 - y2, and x'6- y'6 of the said

wavy curve described by the sewing threads.
The next two branches such as x3 y5 and x'5 y'5 (not shown, .. but succeeding x'6 - y'6) on either side of the three already specified branches also pass respectively above and in below the hawser crossed by the xl - yl branch.
The drawing shows that a hawser line such as 1dc occupies the following positions with respect to the sewing threads 5 and to the axis of the rope 4g:
1.- In xl - yl it is crossed by the threads 5 to the left of the axis - (It therefore crosses the plane of the sewing threads).
2.- At x2 - y2 it passes below wires 5 to the left of the axis.
3.- At x5 - y3, it passes below wires 5 to the right of the axis.
4. - At: x4 - y4, it is crossed 1 straight line of the axis - (It therefore crosses the plane of the sewing threads again).
5. - At x5 - y5 it passes over the wires 5 to the right of the axis.
6. - At x6 - y6 it passes over the wires 5 to the left of the axis.
The next branch of the sewing threads, not shown, will cross the hawser 1dc again to the left of the axis (as in xl, - yl) and so on.
It goes without saying that the seam can also be formed by means of one or more strands.
