M a d e by special methods of twisting.- In a hemp, sisal, &c. rope comprising a number of strands twisted together, each strand 10 comprises a twisted 'core 12 with a covering of yarns 14 laid around the core in the direction opposite to that of the twist of the core. In ropes having a relatively large core the core may be formed, in similar manner, of an inner core 12<1> surrounded by yarns laid in opposite direction to this inner core.
