Abstract

158,372. Pyburn, G. Nov. 5, 1919. Wire ropes. - In a Langs lay compound wire rope having strands twisted around a hemp rope or wire core &c., each strand comprises two core wires A, B, covered by six wires C - - H, which are themselves covered by eight or other number of wires J - - Q. The wires A, B are laid in the strand adjacent to one another and have no twist, and each is not less than half the size of each wire G, H. The length of the lay on the rope is twice the length of the lay on the strands.
