Abstract

1311914 Wire ropes KOBE STEEL Ltd 5 Sept 1970 42629/70 Heading D1T A steel cord, e.g. for reinforcing tyres, comprises a centre core of parallel strands surrounded by twisted strands (The term "strand" here includes a monofilament). In Fig. 3, the core is three parallel wires 6, surrounded by six twisted wires 7. In Fig. 4, the twisted strands 4 each comprise seven twisted wires 8. They may each comprise seven twisted strands each of three twisted wires. In Fig. 5 the core is of three parallel strands 6' each of three twisted wires 11. A binding wire 7 may be twisted around the cord. The strands may be brass plated to improve their adhesion to rubber.
