Abstract

1346457 Wire strands AMERICAN CHAIN & CABLE CO Inc 19 April 1971 [16 Feb 1970] 21926/71 Heading D1T The wire strand shown has an outer helical layer in which the alternate wires 3 have positioned between them larger wires 4' that are deformed as at 4 into interlocking engagement with the wires 3, the wires 3 and 4 together defining a relatively smooth and substantially continuous outer surface. Each wire 3 is preferably in radial alignment with the wire 2 of the next underlying layer of wires. The wires 4 are made of a material that is softer than the wires 3.
