Abstract

1334405 Wire ropes INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 19 April 1971 [18 March 1970] 24289/71 Heading D1T A metal wire or strip 4 that has been helically wound around a cord 1 is deformed such that it assumes the lobate shape shown. The cord 1 comprises two or more strands twisted together and each strand may be. a monofilament 2 or a plurality of wires twisted together. The deformation of the wire or strip 4 is carried out by (a) radially compressing the whole outer surface of the wire or strip or (b) causing the cord 1 with the wire or strip 4 thereon to pass between a plurality. of rollers (Fig. 3 not shown) that constrain the cord 1 to follow an undulating or serpentine path and so compress the wire or strip 4 against the cord 1.
