Abstract

Metallic cable, in which the core (I) is made of strands formed from a wire constituting their core (II) and a layer of min. five wires laid round core (II), and in which at least the external strands of core (I) are covered by a synthetic material. The novelty is that at least each second strand of a layer of strands in core (I) contains at least one external wire with a smaller dia. than the remaining external wires. The smaller wire pref. has a dia. of 40-75% of that of the remaining external wires, esp. 6 0%, and the pref. arrangement consists of five wires with the major dia. and one wire with the smaller dia. Better adjustment of the external wires round core (II), with a higher mechanical capacity than conventional cables, and where the synthetic material has improved access through the strands.
