Abstract

211,375. Peacock, J. W. April 24, 1923. Wire ropes; strands .of special section, with. - The cores of oval, triangular &c. cross section, used for the flattened strands of a rope are formed of wires e having longitudinal grooves f, so that when the rope is used, the core wires fracture across the apices of the grooves. Thus the core becomes formed of a number of small wires although it was only necessary to spin a few larger wires together to form the core.
