Abstract

232,319. Seymour, C., and Cantelo, H. R. Jan. 15, 1924. Vacuum tubes. - A thermionic filament is secured to a lead or support by lacing one or more binding wires of refractory metal such as molybdenum in a figure-of-eight manner arranged around the filament and the lead or support. The filament A is inserted through a hole in the support B and bent so as to lie along the support, and a wire C is laced as shown and the lacing continued to the end of the filament. A straight length D of wire, which may be a separate wire or a part of the lacing wire C, may be bound underneath the loops and its end twisted to the end of the wire C, the twisted joint being bent along the support.
