Abstract
To effect a drawing-out of the threads spun from viscose solutions, the threads, after leaving the spinning bath and passing over the delivery roller, are collected in a centrifugal box operating under such conditions that the centrifugal force acting on the threads produces a permanent drawing-out of the length of thread between the delivery roller and the box. For instance, the spinning-apparatus may be of the usual construction and the parts may have the same relative speeds as those ordinarily adopted, but the centrifugal box may be of increased diameter; with a suitable diameter of the box, hanks of the size required for further treatment, are directly obtained. Operating in this manner it is advantageous to use as the spinning bath a solution of an acid sulphate containing an excess of free acid.
