Abstract

260,564. Bemberg Akt.-Ges., J. P. Nov. 2, 1925, [Convention date]. Apparatus for making filaments; ammoniacalcopper cellulose solutions, processes for making filaments from.-To enable threads of artificial silk obtained by the cuprammonia stretch-spinning process to be collected in centrifugal boxes, the threads, after leaving the spinning apparatus, are led over suitable guiding devices and are acidified during their passage in suchwise that the acidification process is completed by the time the threads reach the collecting apparatus. The guiding devices may consist of positively driven guide rollers, which may be smooth, ribbed or serrated and may be used in conjunction with the usual guide channels, rods, and tension rollers. Thus, the thread may pass from a spinning apparatus 1. Fig. 1, into an acid bath 6, being guided therein by a rod 3 and a tension roller 5, and thence may be led up to and over or wrapped round a positively driven roller 7 before falling into a centrifugal box 8. Instead of a bath 6, the threads may run over an horizontal or inclined gutter 6, Fig. 2, on to which dilute acid falls. In both forms, the tension roller 5 may be omitted, and the acid solution may be applied at the delivery roller 7. preferably in such a manner that acid runs back along the thread. It is preferred, however, to employ a guide rod or tension roller in advance of the delivery roller, since by this arrangement the threads can be placed under tension during the acid treatment.
