Abstract

<PICT:0428863/IV/1> A process for the manufacture of artificial filaments by a process comprising drying filaments made of a solution of a cellulose derivative, followed by a drawing operation, is characterized by the feature that the solution leaves the spinning nozzle in the form of a sheet of filaments which remain at substantially constant distances from one another during the drying and drawing. For example, a sheet of filaments 28 extruded from the nozzle 1 are brought to a plastic state in which they can be handled in the drying cell 2. After passing the roller 11, which prevents the winding roller 3 from exerting any tension on the filaments in the cell 2, the sheet of filament is stretched between the rollers 3 and 4 and collected in the funnel 25. The setting of the filaments is completed by spraying from a nozzle 17 situated above the roller 4.
