Abstract
Artificial silk threads are dried in a continuously operating process by allowing the threads to run on to the drying roller with no tension or only a small tension, and withdrawing and winding them with no tension or only a small tension. The tension should not exceed 5 g., and is preferably less than 1 g. per 100 deniers of thread. Then may be used a single drying roller with or without means for laterally displacing the individual windings, or a pair of mutually inclined rollers may be employed. The roller or rollers may be heated, or the heating may be effected by installing the rotating members in heated chambers, or by sweeping hot air over them.
