Abstract
273,354. Dreaper, W. P. Jan. 11, 1926. Apparatus for making filaments.-To prevent waste and to ensure continuous operation when wet-spinning artificial silk &c. while collecting the threads in centrifugal boxes, the threads. during the time a box is being doffed, are led by hand through a traversing guide to a reel or bobbin mounted on the spinning frame, convemently at the end of the coagulating-bath. One reel or bobbin may be used to collect the threads from several jets. The reel or bobbin may be run at the same speed as or at a different speed from the centrifugals, and it may rotate in a separate bath. On re-starting a centrifugal box, the thread may be led down the guide-funnel by a jet of liquid as described in Specification 171,719 The threads collected on the reel may be used tor the manufacture of staple fibre, or they may be wound off to produce artificial silk.
