Abstract

731,452. Connecting continuously delivered yarn to winding means ; waste end severing. T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd. Oct. 13, 1953 [Oct. 23, 1952], No. 26615/52. Class 120(2). For starting a fresh bobbin in a ring spinning machine twisting continuously produced filaments of rayon or synthetic fibres, particularly high tenacity yarn, a cutting device is provided to sever the yarn pieced to the bobbin, the cutting device being located close to a plain starting disc rotatable with the spindle. Yarn 26, which it is desired to piece onto the bobbin 18, is threaded through the traveller 12 and passed to a suitable collecting receptacle before being pressed against the starting disc 16, whereupon the yarn is taken up by the bobbin 18 and is drawn into a slot formed by a catch 223 that guides it to a blade 24.
