Abstract

285,890. Naamlooze Vennootschap Nederlandsche Kunstzijdefabriek. Feb. 25, 1927, [Convention date]. Addition to 282,721. Apparatus for making filaments; cellulose xanthates, processes for making filaments from.-Viscose silk exhibiting a high tensile strength, both wet and dry, as referred to in the parent Specification, is made by subjecting the thread to a gradually increasing tension during its passage from the spinning nozzle to the winding device, by employing an extended spinning length in the coagulating bath, for example, a length of 1.5 metres, or by mov.ing the bath in counterflow to the thread, or by employing an extended air-path, or by leading the threads in the manner shown, over a number of thread guides 6, preferably rctatable, arranged in zig-zag fashion either entirely outside the bath, or entirely in the bath, or partly in the bath and partly outside. Two or more of the above methods may be combined, for example, an extended spinning length may be used in conjunction with the zig-zag arrangement of guides. A normal viscose is used, and it is spun into a normal spinning bath maintained at a temperature above 18‹ C. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 5881/07 and 14559/10.
