Abstract

230,984. Forsyth, A. G. March 5, 1924. Vaporizers, external; heating charge. - Hot water or exhaust jackets 13, 14 are provided for the induction passage of a radial cylinder engine which comprises an inlet opening 5 for gas or carburetted air and passages 9, between a flared port 7 and a cone-shaped part 8 which lead to an annular distributor 6 having peripheral connections 12 to the cylinders. The passages 9, which correspond in number to the number of conneotions 12 and which may enter the distributor 6 either tangentially or radially, are formed by vanes which may be curved in cross or in longitudinal section or in both. The passages 9 are also arranged so that their total cross-section at any level is always equal to that of the inlet 5, which is the same as that of the annular distributor 6. One wall of the jacket 13 may be formed by the crank case 16.
