Lift valves. - A spring valve for fire-extinguishers placed under pressure by connection to an air pump is provided with an additional pressure device. As shown in Fig. 1, the valve spring d may be further compressed by a plate e' on the end of a screw e. A push rod c<1> opens the valve for use. In a modification, Fig. 4, a cam k<1> working in a frame l on the valve rod opens the valve or exerts additional pressure to close it, according to which way the operating lever c is turned. In a further modification. Fig. 7, an auxiliary spring g presses on the lever c and thus pulls on the valve rod through a pin and slot connection s, unless prevented by a pin h passed through the lever c and a boss on the valve casing.
