Abstract
233,576. Heath, F. Aug. 18, 1924. Safety cut-off valves.-A valve device particularly applicable for controlling the supply of oil to burners is provided with manually-actuated means for opening the valve and at the opposite end of the casing with an adjustable stop. The valve face co-operates with a seat 6 and is formed on the end of a differential piston 10 arranged in a stepped cylinder 8 so that both ends are exposed to the pressure in the fluid conduit 2. The valve is opened by a spindle 13 pivoted to a hand lever 15 itself pivoted to a swinging link 17. The weight of the spindle 13 and lever 15 normally holds the valve open, but for starting an eccentric 18 pivoted to a yoke 16 on the spindle 13 is rotated to hold the hand lever in its depressed position. The space 12 between the pistons is vented through a passage 19 controlled by a valve 20 carried by the stop spindle 22. This spindle has an operating handle 23 and is screwed through a cover 21 fixed to the casing and locked in position by a pin 28 passed through holes in a plate 24 on the spindle and a plate 27 adjustably mounted on a pillar 25.
