Abstract
The production of alkaline earth arsenates by heating the arsenites in presence of oxygen as described in the parent case, is effected at temperatures above 450 DEG C., for instance 600-700 DEG C. or even a cherry-red heat. The air may be heated to the necessary temperature before being passed over the arsenite, or combustion gases containing excess of oxygen may be brought into contact with the arsenite. In an example the hot gases from a furnace containing excess of oxygen or with the addition of air are passed through a rotary kiln containing the arsenite. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) mentions the use of a rotary kiln heated by a pulverized coal burner. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
