Abstract
A pure amorphous form of antimony trioxide is obtained by heating at its upper surface only a stationary charge of antimony or of mixtures of ores adapted to yield the oxide on roasting, and treating the heated mass say at 1000 DEG C. with air diluted with inert gases. A directly-heated muffle or a closed flame furnace may be used in which case the combustion gases act as diluent for the oxidizing air.
