Skids; hand actuation; energy-absorbing ele ments.-A track brake for vehicles comprises two shoes A', carried by forked levers B<1> keyed or a shaft C supported from the vehicle by springs D<1>, which are actuated by a hand wheel J act ing through a worm and worm wheel K on a screwed shaft G to move a nut F thereon tc rotate the shaft C through a lever E in two parts hinged together at M. The application of the brake may serve to raise the rear wheels clear of the ground, and the brake shoes are provided with extensions L which arrest any sparks which may be developed when the shoe engages the ground.
