Skid.-An emergency brake, particularly for motor-vehicles, and adapted also to assist in preventing skidding, comprises one or more spiked elements 1 which are normally held raised by a lever 5 connected thereto by cords 2, but are pressed into contact with the ground by springs 10 when the lever is released.
