Slipping of wheels, preventing.-A cable 6 is connected to the chassis 3 and to a disc 4 of friction material, and a second cable 8 passing over the axle housing 2 connects a point 9 in the cable 6 to the disc. If the vehicle tends to move in a forward direction the disc 4 is forced between the wheel and the ground and the cables are tensioned, the effect being, according to the Specification, to cause the wheel 1 to grip the ground with greater force than is normally the case. The disc 4 extends under the wheel about one third the width of the latter. A similar device 10, 12 comes into action if the vehicle moves backwards. The discs 4, 12 are carried on the arms of an overbalanced two-armed lever 22 turning on the axle housing 2. Normally, the lever 22 is held by a cable 23, connected with a hand lever, so that the discs lie on either side of the vertical through the axle.
