Slipping of wheels, preventing. - Lateral skidding of the rear end of a vehicle is prevented by lowering into contact with the ground a device which carries rollers or sharp edged skids adapted to be used alternatively. A triangular frame a pivoted to the rear of a vehicle, as shown in Fig. 2, carries at its apex a spindle d on which are mounted rollers or discs b which are adapted to engage ordinary surfaces and prevent skidding. When the vehicle is travelling over ice-covered roads, skate-like devices j, shown also in Fig.4, may be brought into contact with the ice. The apparatus may be raised and' lowered by the driver without leaving his seat by means of linkwork e, f.
