325,859. Moncrieff, A. H. D., and Shearman, J. Sept. 1, 1928. Alternative rail or road vehicle.- Road wheels are mounted on hubs or axles secured to or formed as part of the rail wheels which are provided with driving and steering mechanism, the road wheels being adapted to be moved into an eccentric position relatively to the rail wheels and to be held clear of the ground. Protruding from the rail wheel 2, Fig. 2, is an integral extension 5, on which, is mounted the road wheel 14, which, when in use, is keyed to the rail wheel concentrically by means of projecting keys 10 fitting in recesses 13. A slot is provided in the road wheel, and a loose piece 7 holds it concentric with the rail wheel. When the vehicle is running on rails, as shown in Fig. 4, the road wheel is moved outwards clear of the Keys, and the loose piece, 7 removed and replaced in the reverse way after lifting the road wheel, which is then prevented from rotating.
