Abstract

222,108. Duplay, J. M. R. Sept. 19, 1923, [Convention date] Labelling.-Relates to machines for wrapping magazines, catalogues, and like printed matter with a wide band, which is closed and labelled. The labelling mechanism comprises a pivoted plate 66 which is periodically covered with adhesive by a roller 64<b> on a rocking arm and mounted so as to oscillate about axes 64<c>, 64d respectively according to whether it is in contact with the plate 66 or a paste roller 64<a>. The plate 66 rises and removes a label from a stack pressed to the right in a magazine 68 against stops by a weight-operated plate 68<a>. The plate returns with the label to a horizontal position, the label is seized by grippers 69, 69<b>, and a pivoted plate 73 with a roller 73<c> at one edge descends to press the label, now released by the grippers, on the package. The whole of the labelling mechanism is mounted as one unit capable of longitudinal adjustment by a screw device 74<a> operated by a hand wheel. The package then passes beneath a punching device (not shown) to which a counter may be attached.
